The Bouyei (also Buyi) individuals, with a inhabitants of 2,545,059 (by 1990), are mainly spread in the Bouyei and Miao independent prefectures in southern Guizhou and Anshun China vacation deals. Some reside in the Miao and Dong independent prefecture in south eastern Guizhou and around Guiyang while there is also a rare submission in the Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi and other regions.

With the beginning of the PRC in 1949, following assessment with the cultural team, it approved the formal name of Bouyei cultural community.
The Bouyeis are mainly involved in farming. They are experienced in designs and artistry. Their vibrant and magnificently designed batik schedules far returning to olden days. Now, batik has become one of their best-selling handcraft, well-known both on household and international marketplaces.
In previous periods, the Bouyeis considered in mood and worshipped forefathers, although many residing near missionary outposts were transformed to Christianity and Catholicism Public China Holidays.
