My friends and I took the bus from Xining, Qinghai Province to Xiahe. The roads are not in a good state but the bus drivers are very experienced and we arrived safe in Xiahe. It is also possible to get there out of Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu Province Silk Road tour. However it is only possible to go by bus or car to Xiahe as there is neither an airport nor a train station.

The Xiahe area was long part of the Tibetan region of Amdo. Therefore Xiahe’s population is 50 % Tibetan, 40 % Han and 10 % Hui. The Labrang Monastery shows the division between the eastern quarter of the mainly Han and Hui Chinese and the Tibetan village to the west.

There are a lot of visitors that come to Xiahe such as backpackers, students, wanderers etc. However most of the visitors are rural Tibetans, who come to this place to pray, prostrate themselves and seek spiritual fulfillment at the holy Labrang Monastery and on the pilgrim path.

The Labrang Monastery China best tours was founded in 1709 and it is said that it is the third in the Tibetan world. Once over 4000 monks lived here. Today there are about 1800 monks living in the Monastery. In addition to the prayer halls, living quaters of the monks and chapels, the Monastery is also home to six institutes, which explore esoteric Buddhism, medicine, theology, astrology and law.

The Monastery is surrounded by a pilgrim path which is called “kora”. The kora is over 3 kilometers long and is walked by a lot of pilgrims throughout the year. The pilgrims mainly are from Amdo and they are wearing the traditional red blanket-coat. The kora is flanked by hundreds of prayer wheels which are rotated by the pilgrims who walk the path clockwise as custom requires. Walking the pilgrim path is a good way to explore the Monastery and also gives you a great cultural experience.

The Labrang Monastery and the pilgrim path are always full of life popular China tour package. Monks are walking everywhere, pilgrims going on the pilgrim’s route, few tourists make pictures and sometimes you even can see young monks playing football. Although the Monastery is separated from Xiahe downtown, the monks of all ages can also be seen walking through the city.

We also visited the Labrang Monastery and then walked a part on the pilgrim path. The hundreds of prayer wheels with pilgrims rotating them looked amazing and made the atmosphere very special. While walking it silent and you have time to think and go into yourself. The scenery which you get to see while walking on the path is stunning as the city of Xiahe is surrounded by mountains China vacation deals.

Thus I feel the combination of originality and conventional aspects makes the park last minute China travel deals even more appealing. Even though we accept it will take a long time to build the resort in Shanghai, we wait anxiously. But Shanghai is still a fascinating city to visit. For some purely seeking culture, Shanghai has plenty of museums such as The Shanghai Museum popular China tours and the Shanghai Natural History Museum. Visiting Shanghai, you have no reason to miss the Bund, especially the buildings on the Bund China travel deals. The building complex on the Bund, crowned as the “World Architecture Exhibition”, stands stately along the Huangpu River. Together with the wide expanse of green on the Bund, these buildings constitute a hue of a cosmopolitan city that will never fade. Now, follow Annie to take an architecture tour of the Bund. Today we will go to discover the Bund 18.

Built in 1923, Bund 18 used to the seat of the British Royal Oriental Banking Corporation with a British Royal Charter, and was the first foreign bank to enter China. Originally Bund 18 was a three-story English architectural work. In 1922 it was rebuilt, designed by Palmer & Turner Group.

The exterior walls of Bund 18 are paved with granite stones. The most eye-catching part on the exterior is the two giant Ionic columns from the second to the fourth floor. Employing the Classic elements in its decoration is the distinct feature of Neo-Classic architecture. Behind the massive stone columns is the glass wall, which appears unexpectedly slim and graceful. Its triangular top renders the building more exquisite.

Once you are at the entrance, don’t forget to have a look at the two copper gates. It is said that the copper gates enchased with complicated Greek patterns are the only ones forged with alloy of bronze and red copper. With extraordinarily exquisite floral designs top 10 China tours, they are reputed as the most beautiful copper gates on the Bund.

Behind the gate is a small hall decorated with four marble pillars made with Italian marble. This marble used to be quarried on a large scale for use in carved decorations in the Renaissance in the mid-18th century. Afterwards, this kind of marble virtually disappeared. The material of these four pillars, according to records, was taken from a church in Tuscany, Italy 200 years ago, and was shipped all the way to Shanghai.

Going further, you will turn your attention to the floor of the hall. Experts had wanted to floor it with large pieces of marble, yet later found that the floor had a difference in elevation from west to east by about 10 cm, which was due to subsidence – a special geographical phenomenon in Shanghai. So they used hundreds of thousands of small marbles instead, which avoided the slope and gives prominence to the visual effects of round floral designs.

Around 2002, in order to restore the original style as much as possible, a veteran relic restoration expert from Venice, Italy was invited to participate in the innovation and decoration of Bund 18. To clean without damaging the exterior walls, 20 workers brushed the surfaces for as long as 3 months with brushes similar to toothbrushes. The restoration of the interior walls was even more pains-taking. They saturated the marble with natural solutions through tissue paper, which absorbed the salt in the marble. Thus, the original color of the marble was restored. The dirty interior walls were painted with a paint compounded with sticky rice, marble powder and lime powder. It is said that in order to compound this special paint, the architects went to almost all food stores and experimented on pot after pot of steamed rice.

The renovation of the building was completed in 2004 and its function changed thoroughly. Today, the building houses flagship stores of world fashion brands, world-renowned restaurants, bars and art galleries, thus evolving into a top-level multi-functional shopping mall as well as a new fashion landmark of Shanghai. Among the World Architecture Exhibition on the Bund, Bund 18 is one of the few buildings which deserve a close look inside. The Five-Pagoda Temple is situated about 200 meters to the northwest of Beijing Zoo last minute China travel deals. Its original name, the Temple of True Awakening (Zhenjuesi), was later changed to the Temple of Great Righteous Awakening (Dazhengjuesi). Today, however, it is popularly referred to as the Five-Pagoda Temple.

This architectural form was introduced to China by an Indian monk in the early 15th century, and the Temple of True Awakening was constructed here in 1473. The entire temple complex, including numerous wooden buildings, was repaired and renovated in 1761, but in the late Qing Dynasty it was looted and burned to the ground, first by the Anglo-French Allied Armies in 1860, and again by the Eight-Power Allied Force in 1900. Today, the only extant relic is the monumental diamond throne pagoda best tours of China.

The architectural style of the temple is no mere imitation of its Indian prototype, but displays bold innovations: the height of the throne foundation was raised, the height of the pagodas was reduced, and typical Chinese glazed tiles were added.

The square throne foundation is 17 meters high. The five pagodas rise from their rectangular bases on top of this foundation, one in each of the four corners and the fifth in the center. The central pagoda is slightly higher than the others, with 13 eaves, two more than those in the corners. The entire structure is made of white marble. Today, after more than 500 years of oxidation, the flecks of iron in the stone have given the entire structure a pale orange cast.

The four walls of the foundation are carved with rows of Buddhas (the One Thousand Sagacious Buddhas) as well as bas-reliefs of Buddhist symbols, floral designs and Sanskrit letters. The five pagodas popular China travel package are also covered with similar carvings on a small scale.

A door at eh foot of the foundation on the southern side opens into an inner spiral stairway that leads to the top pf the foundation.

There are a total of six "diamond throne pagodas" in China. Two others are in Beijing in the Temple of the Azure Clouds (Biyunsi) and the Yellow Temple (Huangsi). One is in Huhehot in Inner Mongolia; another in Kunming, Yunnan Province, in the Miaozhan (Profundity) Temple; and one is in Zhengding, Hebei Province, in the Guanghui (Universal Beneficence) Temple.
